Beginning Piano
Welcome to our fun and exciting group piano class for beginners! We will learn the basics of finding your way around the keyboard and how to read notes and rhythms. In this class, you’ll learn how to play the piano even if you’ve never done it before. Our friendly teacher will guide you through the basics and have you play simple tunes. We’ll have activities to make learning music easy and enjoyable! So, grab your friends and come join this fun musical adventure!
Classes will meet in the Stiefel Theatre Green Room. The last class, on April 15, will be a recital on the Stiefel Stage.

The Stiefel has 6 Yamaha keyboards for students to use in class. Each student will have their own keyboard with headphones.
Access to a piano or keyboard is needed for at home practice.
Students will need Faber Primer Level 2nd Edition: Lesson, Theory, and Performance books (available online or at SM Hanson Music). These books have purple covers.

Students will learn:
●Rhythms: quarter, half, whole and dotted half notes
●Keyboard Geography: C, D, E, F, G, A, and B
●Black Key Groupings of Two’s and Three’s
●Treble Clef Staff Notes: Middle C, D, E, F, G
●Both hands playing together
